We’ve received a bunch of great feedback on the continuing coverage of the Martin/Coughlin issues over at F4Wonline.com. As we mentioned in our article, Five Star Radio is still listed as one of the site’s membership benefits. It’s also worth noting, for whatever it’s worth, that as of the May 1st Figure Four Weekly newsletter, both Martin and Coughlin are still listed as editorial contributors to the newsletter in the Full Color PDF edition.
The second part of our new column Deep Insider will be up this weekend, where I continue my sojourn into the unsavory, questionable realm of Elite Membership at PWInsider.com.
We’ll also have the next in our series reviewing some of the biggest wrestling news sites on the internet, using the Alexa Top 10 as our starting point.
We should also be recording another episode of Talking Sheet this weekend. Since it’s Throwback Thursday, I wanted to mention that we’ll be debuting a new feature on the show that I think a lot of listeners will like. We’re calling it the Rear View, with Les & Hugh, taking a look at back issues of popular newsletters.
Thursday News Update
** PWInsider was the first to report on Hideo Itami’s shoulder injury and to set his timetable for being out of action for up to 8 months.
** F4Wonline’s Dave Meltzer has reported that Itami would be out 6 months.
** Michael Moore (no relation) has a piece at the PW Torch looking at what Sami Zayn’s Raw appearance could do for his action figure sales and trading cards.
** F4Wonline.com has an interview with and article on John Morrison (AKA Lucha Underground’s Johnny Mundo) talking everything from working with Alberto El Patron to his future with Lucha Underground.
** Pretty much every site has posted the WWE press release announcing Chris Jericho as the host of Tough Enough, along with info regarding the involvement of Hulk Hogan, Daniel Bryan and Paige.
** PWInsider is reporting that Renee Young will join Jericho on the show as co-host.
** PWINsider, WrestleZone and PWTorch have also run stories about WrestlingDVDNews reporting the news that WWE is planning the release of an Owen Hart DVD, with documentary.
** WrestlingInc. has an article summarizing an interview with Steve Austin that ran on SI.com. Worth noting that Wrestling Inc. erroneously has attributed Austin’s comments on LAST YEAR’S WrestleMania to this year. Otherwise, it’s an okay summary—and I hadn’t heard about the Austin SI.com interview anywhere else.
** Dave Meltzer reported that the reason the Uhaa Nation didn’t have a name in his vignette on this week’s NXT was because they haven’t decided on one for him yet.
** PWInsider and PW Torch both have articles running quotes from, and links to, WWE.com’s interview with Sami Zayn where he talks about his Raw match with Cena, and his injury.
** F4Wonline had Bill Goldberg on Wrestling Observer Live, as well as the Thursday edition of F4Daily for an extended interview by Bryan Alvarez & Dave Meltzer.
** PWTorch LiveCast has Wade Keller interviewing George Shire about Verne Gagne and wrestling history, as well as taking questions from callers.
